Maya is Director at Milli Archives Foundation and works on public history. Her academic research in digital humanities seeks to catalogue and build on public facing scholarship to unleash archival discovery in India. She teaches in the Humanities department at FLAME University
Since 2023, she has been invited to be an Associate Editor of IJHAC: A Journal of Humanities, Arts and Computing: A Journal of Digital Humanities edited by Edinburgh University Press. She also serves on the editorial board of the journal, Public Humanities, which is an international open-access, cross-disciplinary, peer-reviewed journal by Cambridge University Press. Invited as a World Advisory Board Member at the University of Rochester, she has had visiting fellowship at IASH, Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, University of Edinburgh, in 2025 at the Cambridge Digital Humanities, and in 2026 at the European University Institute. Since its establishment, she serves on the advisory board of India’s first journal of Digital Humanities, Digital Humanities Intersections and co-edits the pioneering Digital Humanities in Asia book series.
